Hiking and mountainbiking are definitely great activities, which you can perfectly experience in the mountains. But sometimes you have to do something very special and different. That's why we tested two new attractions in Saalbach Hinterglemm for you!
The slackline parcour on the Zwölferkogel railway trains your balance
Balance, coordination and concentration are required on the new slackline parcour on the middle station of the Zwölferkogel railway. With a great view over the mountains and Hinterglemm you can try, practise and train. On the meadow right next to the exit, there are nine tensed slacklines.
Who stands on a slackeline for the first time, will love this place, because there are two special stations which enable a best possible introduction. Firstly, there's the double-slackline with two thin slacklines tensed closed together. So there's one slackline for every foot and you can walk over it solidly and easy. In addition, there are three slacklines with ropes to hang on to support you on the right and left hand. The different degrees of hardness of the slacklines even make the slackline-parcour interesting for advanced people. And those, who need a break, have the possibility to swing a little bit in the playground with an amazing view over the mountains. Everyone will have fun here - little children in the playground, older kids on the slackline-parcour and the parents on the Winkler Alm enjoying their coffee.
The very first jump & slide park of the world is in Saalbach
Jumping, sliding and having fun - that's possible in the new jump & slide park in the valley head Hinterglemm. Here, you have a large selection of many different actions. From the jump & slide park, the Baumzipfelweg, a huge high rope course and the water playground "Teufelswasser" to hiking tours through the impressive mountain panorama.
This time, we chose the jump & slide park. It's the first one in the world and that's why it's unique. For little children and also for adults to get into it, the slide is perfect. Here, you're sliding down with carpets or felt-toboggans quite fast. Three trampolines invite to try and practise different jumps. Finally, you can jump into the air cushion at a height of two metres. The diving platform with three variations in height - 1m, 3m and 5m - is similar to diving platforms at the swimming pool. The only difference is that it is not about the element water: it's about the element air. Holding closed the nose - like I did instinctively during my first jump ☺ - doesn't really help in this situation.
The main attraction of the jump & slide park is the freestyle kicker. Here, you're sliding down the path with a round pneumatic tyre before you get catapulted in the air on an entrenchment. Who doesn't want to jump, slide and fall any more, there's a boulder wall to train the muscles, too. Our conclusion: a super funny action for the family vacation in Saalbach Hinterglemm.
